Fox River Hat Co. began by learning how to make hats from the best out there: Tom Hirt. Based in Penrose, Colorado, he’s made hats for many famous clients including Val Kilmer, Sam Elliot, Ronald Reagan, and Sharon Stone. We’re still learning tips and tricks from Tom’s wealth of knowledge while we live in the Four Corners area.
To switch up from ‘we’ to I, I figured I’d tell you a little bit about your hat stylist (aka, me). My name is Sarah and I’ve always had an eye for details, especially when it comes to art and a love for a transformed space or canvas. Extending those natural skills to hat making has been a fun experience with the reward of creating a quality, functional product with tons of rich lore attached. I was sold on making hats the first time I got to answer the compliment of “I like your hat!” with “Thanks, I made it!”. I learned how to make hats with my father-in-law, Dave, and we continue to share our hat making resources as he works from his ranch in Mancos, Colorado. I enjoy life with my husband Keegan and our two dogs, Taz and Maya. We like to camp, hike, and get outside when we get the chance.
